In the heart of the International District, there is a mural of a giant dragon looking out over Hing Hay Park. This month, the dragon has some company. Dan Reeder, a local artist specializing in paper mache, has installed no less than 11 creatures in the windows overlooking the park. The figures are life size (or close to it), colorful, strange, and painstakingly crafted – Reeder seems to have a knack for forming anatomically correct mythical creatures. The installation is striking during the day, and comes alive at night with the help of some strong lighting – get down to see it before the monsters demount!
